Provides regulatory guidance for Flight Operations by interpreting and complying with new and/or revised government regulations and guidelines and ensuring compliance.

  • Engage and participate with industry committees, boards, and interest groups that set and have operational and business decision implications.

  • Oversees the development, revision, and maintenance of operational manuals.

  • Interprets FARs, exemptions, and other government regulatory information to ensure compliance and acts as the subject matter expert to assist flight operations with questions regarding the compliance with FARs.

  • Ensures any applicable policies and procedures in other manuals (i.e. In-flight, Aircraft Maintenance, etc.) are congruent with the Operations Specifications, FARs, and Operations Manual.

  • Maintains positive working relationships with all airline and transportation-related government agencies.

  • Communicates with industry professionals from other airlines and aviation training manufacturers to ensure the airline is staying ahead of industry-wide standards of innovation and technology.

  • Interacts with operational departments/individuals to ensure alignment with pertinent government, Company, and department changes. Collaborates with necessary associates (i.e. Flight Operations, Inflight, Maintenance, etc.) to ensure the most current information is captured in regards to required policies and procedures in appropriate manuals.

  • Performs special projects or other duties as assigned.


The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.


  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation or related area or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • At least 5 years airline experience.

  • Must be highly knowledgeable of FAA Regulations, Operations Specifications, and pertinent manuals and information relating to his/her duties.


Additional years of experience.


Possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common

scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common

inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.


Possess strong analytical skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid

conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram

form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Strong evaluation and troubleshooting skills.


Makes decisions to support strategic decisions. Decisions have impact across and outside of the organization. Decisions could require additional expenditure of resources if not sound decisions. Able to plan, direct and organize a department and establish goal setting.
