POSITION PURPOSE

Prepares and distributes external disclosures and financial statements for both internal and external use.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Prepares annual and interim quarterly financial statements in accordance with applicable rule sets to include accounting principles generally accepted in the United States (US GAAP), the United States Department of Transportation and/or Rules and Regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

  • Prepares quarterly and monthly financial statements to support financial covenant requirements.

  • Interprets and manages changes in reporting requirements and the impact to the Company’s financial reporting framework.

  • Prepares workpapers and financial records supporting financial statement disclosures.

  • Performs accounting and peer company research on disclosure best practices.

  • Assists with accounting research and preparation of research documentation to support the Company’s significant accounting positions and transactions, including accounting basis and disclosure requirements.

  • Collaborates with corporate accounting to ensure completeness and accuracy of amounts reported in period financial statements.

  • Employs a continuous improvement approach to job duties in order to strengthen current processes and drive efficiencies in job duties.

  • Carries out job responsibilities with attention to detail.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. / B.S.) in Accounting or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • At least 3 years related accounting experience with knowledge and experience with US GAAP and SEC requirements.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

  • Previous experience with US GAAP and/or SEC Rules and Regulations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret US GAAP financial statements. Strong written skills required to assist with documentation of accounting positions and draft disclosures. Ability to read, understand and summarize impact of US GAAP accounting standards.

DECISION MAKING

Makes decisions and determines best methods to solve problems by referring to established precedents and policies. Impact of decisions is moderate.
